This Christmas, swap the north pole for north London and head up the hill for a fun-filled festive season for all the family at Alexandra Palace.
It all begins when Mark Gatiss leads an ensemble cast in his own retelling of Dickens’ classic winter ghost story A Christmas Carol. Prepare to be frightened and delighted as you enter the supernatural World of A Christmas Carol in our stunning Victorian Theatre.
As you make your way to the theatre, festive lights, decorations, and carol singing will transform our East Court. Here you will find our Santa’s Grotto where children can meet, receive a gift from and have their photos taken with the big man in red.
Skating is a year-round activity at Ally Pally, but the ice rink feels particularly merry at Christmas time and gives an opportunity for a full-on festive day out. Book onto one of our Christmas skate sessions or Christmas Club de Fromage Discos and enjoy whizzing around the rink to your favourite Christmas tunes, followed by a mulled wine, gingerbread hot chocolate, and mince pie in our festive Ice Café.
Our beloved annual pantomime on ice is back (oh no it isn’t!) and this year Ally Pally Amateur Productions presents The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic with a panto twist featuring a cast of home-grown talent of all ages and Disney on Ice professionals.
Our Learning team bring some creative fun to the festivities with fast-paced drama workshops run by the brilliant Crouch End Youth Theatre, in which participants explore ways to create characters & stories inspired by classic tales, carol singing from local schools* (Monday 6 December and Tuesday 7 December, 5pm) plus a festive performance by The Angels of Kaos choir on 18 December at 5.20pm.
Plus, there’s the option to try something new this year and rent a tree from the environmentally friendly pot-grown Christmas tree rental scheme Christmas on the Hill.
All in all, we’re delighted to say that Christmas at Ally Pally has something for everyone. Make a day of it, make a night of it, make a day and night of it, Ally Pally looks forward to welcoming everyone back for a Christmas celebration to remember.
*Monday 6 December performance: Campsbourne Primary School, The Willow Primary School, Rhodes Avenue Primary School and Trinity Primary Academy.
Tuesday 7 December performance: Coleridge Junior School, Rokesly Junior School, Haringey Junior Vox Choir and Haringey Senior Vox Choir.
Book onto one of our Christmas skate sessions (every weekend from 27 November) or Christmas Club de Fromage disco nights (18/19/26 December and 1/2 January) and enjoy whizzing around the rink to your favourite Christmas tunes, topped off with a mulled wine or mince pie from our Ice Café.
