What a year this has been, with our iconic venue making unprecedented headlines and winning awards for both the Park and the Palace itself.  As a fitting reminder of a fantastic year Alexandra Palace has won second place in the Event Magazine “Top 20 Venues Readers Poll” from an illustrious shortlist of 30 venues.

As a result of hosting several major and highly creative events, including Red Bull Empire of Dirt, Holland Heineken House and Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange, Alexandra Palace was placed amongst the final 30 on the short list, based on a range of criteria including: portfolio of events, revenue and Olympic involvement.  The online readers’ vote took place throughout October 2012 and was carefully monitored to ensure there was no ghost voting.  More than 4500 industry peers chose to put Alexandra Palace into the limelight.

With the recent announcement of long term contracts for World Darts, Masters Snooker and the addition of hosting the launch of World Ping Pong, alongside further high profile live music bookings for next year, this success in the Readers’ Poll provides a fitting end to 2012. Alexandra Palace played a significant part in the Cultural House phenomenon that was realised at London 2012. This year’s success is a reflection of the venue’s popularity with professional clients and the general public alike and why 2013 looks set to be another busy calendar of unique and highly visible events.

“It is testimony to the hard work and dedication of the team in securing and delivering our best year of events on record. To win this accolade is even more special, having been selected by opinion leaders in the events world in the face of fierce competition from 420 leading national venues.” Commented Emma Dagnes, Commercial Director, Alexandra Palace.

The success of the People’s Palace is truly a reflection of both the venue’s commitment to events and its team’s expertise in creating fantastic experiences for clients and customers alike.  Coming second in this important industry poll, is a perfect ending to 2012 and an inspiration as Alexandra Palace prepares to celebrate its 140th anniversary next year.
