A fifth defibrillator has been added to the Park and Palace, extending the life-saving network across the site, alongside Public Access Trauma (PAcT) Kits. From live performances and events to 196 acres of open parkland, a year-round ice rink and a wide range of attractions, defibrillator positions are chosen carefully to make sure help is close by if needed, and in case of an emergency.
Employees regularly take part in first aid and defibrillator training with MB Medical Solutions, helping build the confidence and skills needed to respond.
This training has already been put into practice. In late 2025, staff responded to two separate incidents where visitors showed symptoms consistent with cardiac arrest, using on-site defibrillators and first aid skills to support those affected until emergency services arrived.
Graeme Timms, Head of Health and Safety, says: “We welcome millions of visitors every year, whether they’re coming to an event, skating, or just enjoying the park. Making sure people feel safe, and that we’re ready to respond if something does happen is incredibly important to us. Having defibrillators in accessible locations, alongside well-trained staff, can genuinely save lives.”
Catherine Solomon, Director of HR and Organisational Development, adds; “The Park and Palace has such a mix of events, with year-round activity, so regular training and refreshers ensure our teams have the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in an emergency situation.”
By combining ongoing training with the right equipment in place, Alexandra Park and Palace continues to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who visits.
