Booty shaking soul monster Fat Freddy’s Drop returns to Alexandra Palace in 2026 to celebrate 21 years of Based on a True Story, their acclaimed debut album.

Fat Freddy’s Drop are a seven-piece band from Wellington, Aotearoa, known for their fusion of dub, reggae, soul, funk and electronic influences. Their debut album Based On A True Story was released independently in 2005 and became Aotearoa’s longest-charting album, spending 111 weeks in the Top 40 and winning eight New Zealand Music Awards. The band’s 2026 tour marks their first shows since the passing of founding member Chris ‘MU’ Faiumu and continues their shared intention to celebrate the music they created together.
