Doc'n Roll presents: Premiere Phil Lynott: Songs for While I'm Away + Q&A - New date

1 Nov 2020

Doc’n Roll are delighted to announce the killer curtain-raiser for Doc’n Roll LDN 2020: the premiere of the hotly anticipated cinematic portrait of Thin Lizzy’s charismatic primal force, Phil Lynott: Songs for While I’m Away. The live public screening featuring a Q&A with the director and special guests will be held at Alexandra Palace Theatre – all of which will be run in strict adherence to required protective measures.*

A feature documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, Songs For While I’m Away tells the story of how a young black boy from working-class 1950s Dublin became Ireland’s Greatest Rock Star. As the singer and songwriter that led Thin Lizzy through their twelve album recording career, Lynott was more than a musician: he was an idol, a dreamer, a wildman. Told extensively through Phil’s own words and focusing on some of his most iconic songs, the film takes viewers behind the star persona, to the very heart of Philip Lynott – father, husband, friend, son, icon, bard, phenomenon.

*In light of COVID-19-related restrictions on travel, all in-person Q&A sessions featuring film directors are subject to confirmation.
