Sarah Jane Morris - The Sisterhood

9 Mar 2024

Alexandra Palace Theatre

Sarah Jane Morris and Tony Rémy’s zeitgeist-defining new work returns to London on 9 March. Witness the next stage of this remarkable project, which celebrates the lives and achievements of twelve female singer songwriters; the women, the shape-changers, who altered the course of musical history.

This is Sarah Jane’s Sisterhood: BESSIE SMITH • BILLIE HOLIDAY • NINA SIMONE • MIRIAM MAKEBA • ARETHA FRANKLIN • JANIS JOPLIN • JONI MITCHELL • PATTI SMITH • RICKIE LEE JONES • ANNIE LENNOX • KATE BUSH • SINÉAD O’CONNOR

“I wrote the lyrics to tell these amazing women’s stories and Tony Rémy and I wrote the music in the genre of the artist concerned. A double homage resulted. We salute the five great artists who continue to create and to activate, the survivors of the original Sisterhood.” – Sarah Jane Morris

The concert takes place on International Women’s Week and will mark the worldwide launch of The Sisterhood album, which will be released on 8 March as a double album. Sarah Jane and renowned guitarist Tony Rémy, co-writers and co-producers of the project, have brought together a group of world-class musicians and a 40-voice masterclass choir to realise the huge musical and cultural potential of The Sisterhood. Come and support The Sisterhood along with them!
