Spring Awakening

27 - 28 Apr 2023

When a class of teenagers find a copy of an old German play in their school library called Spring Awakening, they are mesmerised by the chaos, drama and darkness of the characters’ lives.

Bored by the safety and moderation of their 21st Century existence, the class are inspired by this beautiful yet disturbing tale of teenagers discovering themselves, to live as the characters.

“Suddenly we were all reading this play. This old German play. And we were writing fan fiction, and sharing it online, and making videos, and pretending. And playing.
And playing turned into dreaming, turned into living.”
