Gig recap: here’s to never growing up with Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne rocked Alexandra Palace for two unforgettable nights in May 2023.

On 9 and 10 May, the pop-punk princess delivered a high-energy performance that had the crowd on their feet, singing along from start to finish. With her signature punk-inspired style and powerful vocals, Avril took fans on a nostalgic journey through her biggest hits, from Complicated and Sk8er Boi to I’m With You and Girlfriend among many others, including some of her newer material from 2022’s Love Sux.

The atmosphere was electric, and her infectious energy and genuine connection with the crowd made these Ally Pally nights an absolute triumph for both the singer and her dedicated fans.

“It’s hard not to feel re-energised by a crowd who treat Ally Pally like it’s the raucous dancefloor at a high school reunion, air guitars and all. […] That escapism is much-needed today, and Lavigne certainly knows how to take you there. As her 2013 hit goes, here’s to never growing up.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Guardian
