Gig recap: Charli XCX’s mega party 4 u at Alexandra Palace

Thursday was definitely cemented as the new Friday for us last week as Charli XCX performed her biggest headline show to date at the Palace on Thursday 19 May. The pop innovator didn’t pull any punches as she took over our Great Hall, turning the 149-year-old room into a gigantic club, much to the delight of her 10.000 Angels gathered there that night (Charli’s Angels… get it?).

“Alexandra Palace turned into a pop-up Pride for an evening […] a blissful evening of true, unadulterated – and yes – cheesy fun.” – DIY

We just wanna go back, back to last Thursday 🎶 If you feel the same, relive one of the best pop shows of the decade with reviews, our pictures, your reactions, and the banger-full setlist:

“For her notoriously fervent fans, it was a performance that simply vindicated what they’d always known: that Charli deserves to be the UK’s main pop girl. That dream is one step closer now, and we’ve zero doubt that a talent this brilliantly-bloody minded is capable of making it a reality.” – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Evening Standard

“On the huge Alexandra Palace stage, though, not a single moment goes by without cramming in as much choreography as possible. It’s also thrilling to hear her warped pop paired with what can only be described as an incredibly precise command of all things extra.” – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rolling Stone
