Matchroom Sport supports Ally Pally’s Creative Learning programme

Matchroom Sport, who have brought world class sporting events to Alexandra Palace for over a decade, are providing a grant of £180,000 to support outdoor learning opportunities for young people at the Palace across the next three years.

Matchroom Sport and Alexandra Palace join forces to host the Cazoo World Darts Championship, which is returning for a fifteenth year this December, as well as the hugely popular Masters snooker and elite level boxing, entertaining hundreds of thousands of fans each year.

These events are directly contributing to a range of creative learning projects in Alexandra Park that connect local young people with nature. Matchroom Sport, via their own Charitable Foundation, have already supported the Palace’s Wild in the Park initiative since 2019, which has provided regular Forest School sessions, holiday creativity camps, gardening groups, competitions, art trails and a host of other activities to educate young people about environmental issues and green solutions. In total these opportunities have been enjoyed by more than 3,000 young people each year.

Emma Dagnes, Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust Chief Executive, said: “The partnership between Alexandra Palace and Matchroom Sport provides some of the most loved and anticipated occasions in sport. Over a million attendees have enjoyed the Darts and Snooker at the Palace during the last 15 years. It also extends well beyond these huge nights. Over the last three years these amazing events have contributed to us launching a thriving programme of outdoor learning projects for young people. The additional funding will enable us to grow this programme in new and exciting ways, so that even more people can benefit.”
