Stories of joy, discovery and connection

Our Creative Learning team and Young Creatives Network joined forces with We Are Unit, to work with residents at Latimer House in Seven Sisters to create a dance film based around the residents’ personal stories.

Exploring feelings of joy, discovery and connection, which were the themes of the Haringey Feast – a celebration of Haringey’s creators, cultural organisations and residents, led by Haringey Council – the residents told stories from when they have been happiest in their lives.

They worked with Artistic Director Tom Hobden to choreograph their stories into dance over four sessions. Tom then brought in two professional dancers to work and dance with the residents, and a filmmaker to capture the collaborative dance piece over two days of filming.

The film premiered at the finale of the Haringey Feast, in the Palace’s East Court on 19 November 2023. It will now be submitted to By The People – a 150 Lifetimes, our work with artist Helen Marshall to commemorate 150 years of Alexandra Palace.
