We’re delighted that on 13 August the Government announced that ice rinks could re-open, having been closed during the covid-19 lockdown. We’ve been waiting for this news, as we know so many of you have too.
We want to get everyone back on the ice as soon as possible, but there are a number of factors to address before doing so.
This includes getting the ice in top condition, something we couldn’t maintain during lockdown due to the prohibitive costs. We also need to adapt some elements of the venue to ensure it is covid-19 secure, in-line with Government guidance. We’ve been working over previous months in readiness to do this, however the Grade II listed status of the building means this isn’t always an easy or speedy process.
We know how important the ice rink is to everyone who uses it. Not only is it enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of you each year, it also supports peoples’ jobs. We can’t wait to get it open again, and are working non-stop to do so.
To book a general skate simply pick the session time which best suits you. Don’t miss our great value 60 minute ‘happy hour’ weekday sessions during term time too.
We strongly advise booking your skating tickets for weekend and holiday sessions to ensure entry to your chosen session.
Is your little one not quite ready to take to the ice alone just yet? Why not purchase one of our skate aids to help. Skating aids are sold on the door only on a first come first served basis. They are available on all public sessions (excluding disco sessions) for one hour at a time. To avoid disappointment, we recommend arriving 15 minutes before the session.
Alexandra Palace is a charity, run for the benefit of everyone. Our Park, Palace and spectacular events have been enriching lives since 1863, but the coronavirus pandemic has hit us hard. To be blunt, we are looking at a £1m shortfall this year and the same again next year. We know this time has been hard on many people but, if you can afford it, your support will help us get through this crisis.
